2. Scope of Survey

3. Limitations & Liability

3.2 Rising damp, leaks, or structural defects cannot be confirmed without intrusive investigation, which is outside the scope of a standard survey.
3.3 Recommendations are provided in good faith. Responsibility for acting upon them lies solely with the client, landlord, or managing agent.
3.4 Reports must not be used as legal evidence or relied upon in litigation without written consent from Damp Doctor Sussex Ltd.
4. Client Responsibilities
4.1 The client must provide safe and reasonable access to all relevant areas.
4.2 The client must disclose known issues such as leaks, previous damp works, or flooding.
4.3 Heating and ventilation should be used normally prior to the visit to avoid skewed readings.
4.4 The client is responsible for arranging recommended works or specialist contractors where required.
5. Quotes, Pricing & Additional Works
5.1 All quotations are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.
5.2 Additional defects discovered during works may incur further charges; these will be discussed before proceeding.
5.3 Payment terms, deposits, and cancellation conditions will be stated on each quotation.
5.4 Waste removal is included only where specified.
6. Humidity, Condensation & Mould Disclaimer
6.1 Humidity, condensation, and mould are influenced by occupant behaviour, including:

7. External Ground Levels & Drainage
7.1 External defects such as raised ground levels, bridging render, defective gutters, poor drainage, or neighbouring water run‑off fall under the responsibility of the homeowner or landlord.
7.2 Damp Doctor Sussex Ltd accepts no liability for moisture caused by external landscaping, drainage issues, or conditions beyond our control.
8. Use of Reports
8.1 Reports are for the client’s personal use only.
8.2 Reports may not be altered, reproduced, or distributed without written permission.
8.3 Damp Doctor Sussex Ltd is not responsible for decisions made by landlords, tenants, insurers, or contractors based on the report.
9. Warranty on Works
9.1 Where applicable, ventilation units may carry a manufacturer’s warranty.
9.2 Damp Doctor Sussex Ltd guarantees workmanship for a stated period ( 1 Year ); this will be detailed in the quotation.
9.3 No warranty can be provided for mould prevention unless all recommended ventilation and moisture‑control measures are fully implemented.
10. Health & Safety
10.1 Damp Doctor Sussex Ltd adheres to all relevant health and safety regulations.
10.2 The client must ensure:
